the Quest for Lilikoi
(re-written by yours truly)

The turtle and the scorpion were standed on kauai
the scorpion said to the turtle:

"Let us swim to molokai for lilikoi
I'll ride on your back since I cannot swim..."

the turtle to the scorpion,"You will sting and kill me-"

scorpion in retaliation,

"No, why would I do that? We will both drown."

the turtle merely thinking momentarily,

"That is true, and then we both won't have any lilikoi..."

the scorpion settles comfortably on top of the turtle's shell
kind and almighty

as turtle swims pass honolulu shore suddenly shrieking in strife!
gasping his last words above air-

"Scorpion, you have stung me in betrayal!
Why? Now we both shall perish."

the scorpion pathologically speaking,

"I am sorry, my beloved turtle-.
For it is in my nature."

the scorpion sinks to the bottom of its sea dwell interstellar.
as for the turtle?

You can find his spirit at Hono Bay Lilikoi

Eli Broad

almost anybody can learn to think or believe,
but not a single human being can be taught to feel
to be nobody-but yourself- in a world which is doing its best day and night
to make you everybody else is the hardest battle for any human being
because nothing is quite as easy as being everybody else
but the moment you feel you are nobody-but-yourself

do something easy like learn how to blow up the world-
unless you're not only willing but glad to feel and fight till the day you die for your art
does this sound dismal?
it isn't
it's the most wonderful life on earth

or so I feel

September Summer

I see you run against your wind
the fast runner running away from
his lost dream towards the
dark shadows of your internal black sea dive

you are my gold red sienna
that blows into the night
you are the little owl in the full moonlight
you belong to no one and
you are all mine in the sun of suns
I will see you run again
into my gold red sienna
come tomorrow come
into my Autumn red light

The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear
I learn by going where I have to go

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow

Of those so close beside me, which are you?
God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there
And learn by going where I have to go

Light takes the Tree; but who can tell us how?
The lowly worm climbs up a winding stair
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow

Great Nature has another thing to do
To you and me; so take the lively air
And, lovely, learn by going where to go

This shaking keeps me steady, I should know
What falls away is always. And is near
I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow
I learn by going where I have to go

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. Don’t settle.

That's what fascinates me-
to make something I can never be sure of and
no one else can either
that's the way art is you keep turning around and it will go on forever
there's no way of looking at a work of art by itself
it's not self evident it needs a history
it's a part of a whole man's life.
